Mr Nimal Perera is Secretary to the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. He pursued higher education in the fields of Accountancy, Commerce, Finance and Business Studies at the Ceylon Technical College and the Luton College of Higher Technology in England (UK). He is also an ACCA qualified.
In 1980, Mr Perera joined Noritake Lanka Porcelain (Pvt) Ltd, where he held different positions prior to his appointment as the Director / General Manager of the same Company. He also has served in the Boards of Directors of Lanka Ceramics Ltd, Lanka Salt Ltd, and People’s Leasing Co Ltd.
He was the Chairman to a number of Organizations such as the Urban Development Authority (UDA), Waters Edge Co Ltd, and Hotel Developers (Lanka) PLC. He has served the Sagara University as a Council Member. While Mr Perera claims a number of professional awards, in 1998 he was conferred with the title “Best CEO” by the Sri Lanka Association of Quality and Productivity.
