Colombo port, which is the largest commercial port of the country. This exposure provided the chance of embarking a ship, not for a voyage but rather to endow knowledge on the practical operations of a commercial ship. This is well related to their academic studies on logistics management and it is considered a rare opportunity given to them to physically witness such operations. Furthermore, the event was organized by Capt I.L. Priyanjana, the Marine Pilot of the ports authority, who added more value to the visit through a very descriptive knowledge-sharing session on the logistical scenario of transporting goods via a ship. Accordingly, it was conveyed that the largest income earned by the port is through transshipment when compared to import-export trading.
