Bachelor of Education Honours in Teaching English as a Second Language (BEd Hons in TESL) is a four-year Honours degree programme specially designed to cater to the students who wish to pursue a career in Teaching English for Primary and Secondary school students.

The programme aims to produce graduate teachers who are trained, dynamic and competent to Teach English as a second language. In Sri Lanka, there is a huge demand for graduates who are professionally qualified in teaching English. Therefore, there is a plethora of opportunities for TESL qualified teachers in the Sri Lankan education sector, with opportunities for higher education worldwide.

Entry Qualifications:

  • Minimum three Simple passes (S) in any stream of study at the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination conducted by the Department of Examinations at one sitting within a maximum of three attempts OR recognized equivalent by the academic senate.
